Sears Wins World, Melby Wins 10th Go PDF Print E-mail

The 10th Go round of the 2011 NFR belonged to Jane Melby and RC Back In Black, who posted a 13.71-second run to win her third go round of the NFR, but the night belonged to Lindsay Sears, whose second-place run of 13.75 seconds earned her both her second World Championship and her first NFR Average title.

“I just knew that I was going to go out there and try to do what I’ve been doing every night and try to win some money and go fast and be as tight as I could be and see what happens,” Sears said of her 10th round run. “I wouldn’t have been satisfied any other way, and it just happened to work out, and I got lucky. That’s basically what it all came down to. I had a lucky week, and that’s how things have to go here in Vegas. You have to be lucky.”

For NFR rookie Jane Melby, winning a third go round at the 2011 NFR was the icing in a very sweet cake that saw the Minnesota cowgirl win nearly $60,000 in 10 days.

““I guess this one’s the most exciting,” Melby said of her third gold buckle win. “I knew that there were a few other girls that had won two rounds, and, today, I said ‘One of has to be three, and I hope it’s me,’ and here I am!”
