According to the Kentucky State Veterinarian's Office, the University of Kentucky's Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory has confirmed a diagnosis of West Nile virus affecting a horse in Fleming County, Ky.

The 6-year-old Standardbred mare presented with rear limb ataxia on Aug. 26, which progressed to its front limbs. The mare still had a normal appetite and mental acuity, but has otherwise not improved as of Sept. 2.

The horse had no West Nile Virus vaccination history.
